Where to elope on Kauai

Hawaii is one of the top elopement destinations in the country, for good reason. Kauai, also known as the Garden Island, is the epitome of paradise and is bound to fulfill all your tropical dreams. The island is small, but landscapes are vast, so whether you’re an adventurous couple looking to exchange vows at the the top of a mountain, or prefer a mellow, romantic sea side elopement- there are countless locations throughout the island. Here are a few favorite locations to have a small wedding.

Kauai Beach Elopement Locations

Hanalei Bay- Hanalei Bay is one of the most iconic beaches on the North Shore of Kauai. It’s known for its gorgeous views of the Na Pali Coast. Exchange vows at sunset, walk the historic Hanalei pier, and then take a stroll into the quaint Hanalei town for a romantic dinner.

Tunnels Beach – Nestled on the lush, North Shore, this crescent shaped bay is fringed by palms and Ironwood trees. The jungle and mountain backdrop make this a picture-perfect beach. There are many hidden spots to explore along the bay, allowing you to find just the right location.

Shipwreck’s Cliff – Panoramic ocean and cliff views, short hike-in location, easy parking, and within the town limits. You can share vows, take photos, and go grab a great dinner within a few block radius. Located on the south side of Kauai.

Booking and Permit Information for Kauai Parks and Nature Areas

In order to hold a wedding on any beach in Hawaii, a “Right-of-Entry” permit (beach permit) must be obtained and be present at all times (including set up) during the event.

A professional wedding planner, minister or officiant, photographer or other applicable vendor (“Applicant”) must apply for and have present this beach permit at any event held on any beach in Hawaii.
